Believe!
Is there something your wrestling with today that seems overwhelming? Is there a decision looming before you that requires you to believe that God is faithful to provide? If so, take your uncertainty to God.  “Lord I don’t know what to do, what if I’m wrong or fail? Lord help me!” The father of a sick child went to Jesus and said, Lord help us if YOU can? “If you can?” said Jesus. Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:23-24 NIV)
When you doubt God’s trustworthiness, unbelief becomes a gap in your spiritual armor and it’s in that gap that Satan wants to attack you. You soon begin to doubt other attributes of God’s character, such as His goodness, soon distrust and unbelief become baggage that will weigh you down in every area of life.
You might feel that you don’t have enough faith to trust and obey, but the Lord isn’t asking you to trust in favorable circumstances. The Lord is asking you to simply believe, that He is who He says He is, always!
It’s easy to doubt God when you’re focused on the obstacles standing before you, but when you fix your eyes on Jesus and believe what Scripture says about His faithfulness, then you can do anything. No matter what lies before you, remember that God brought you to it and He will see you through it. He is faithful! You can find strength in your dependence on Him, whether you’re in a deluge of trials or a flood of blessings.
It’s actually when life gets challenging that you’ll recognize the reality and sweetness of God’s faithfulness. When you learn to face life’s challenges and storms in complete reliance in His strength, your trust in His character will become part of who you are and it will provide you strength from within. Trust in the Lord, He will never leave or forsake you.
Grace and peace always,
Fr. Greg+
