Hearing Our Good Shepherd!
Who are you listening to or following today? There's a cacophony of voices in this world trying to fill our ears and minds with lies. Research has proven that animal and human newborns can recognize their mothers' voices soon after birth. That bond is critical for survival! Our passage today also reveals that learning to identify and follow our Good Shepherd's voice is critical for our survival against an enemy who comes to deceive and destroy us. Friends, learning to discern his voice has never been more important than today!
As Christ's followers, knowing that we belong to the fold and can fully trust our Good Shepherd is comforting. The more time we spend in his presence, the clearer we can recognize his voice amid the deceptive voices around us. Our Good Shepherd tells us, "The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly (10:10)." If you are looking for abundant life amid a litany of lies, deception, and broken promises, I encourage you to listen to the Good Shepherd's voice in Word and Prayer daily. Let Jesus, our Good Shepherd, provide, protect, and direct your life with his unconditional love!
