Cultivating Contentment
Are you seeking contentment in your life? Many people are! Sadly, most people allow their present circumstances determine their attitudes. If things are going well, they feel good, but when things get difficult their contentment quickly gives way to anxiety and discontent. The good news is, believers don’t have to live that way. Biblical contentment is a state of peace and inner satisfaction that is wholly independent of external circumstances. It is characterized by an attitude of gratitude and trust in God's divine providence regardless if one is facing challenges or experiencing abundance.
Friends, like the apostle Paul, anyone can learn and practice contentment in all things. First, we must fully surrender to God in every situation. We must learn to yield what we want and accept whatever God allows. The second step is to trust God to oversee our specific situation. If we believe He is working out His perfect plan for us, we can experience the joy that comes from fully relying on Him. Paul fully submitted his life to God and trusted Him. Though he faced insults, rejection, and numerous trials he remained content. Once we fully surrender our control to the Lord and believe He has our best interest at heart, we too can experience contentment whatever the circumstances.
Onward and Upward+
