Perfect Peace!
Are the ongoing challenges of the last two years robbing you of peace today? It seems stress and anxiety have become the new normal in this non-stop, high-speed world. Whether it’s work, relationships, politics, or a combination of many things, it seems everyone is struggling under constant tension and duress. Couple that with a constant bombardment of information, and we find ourselves in the middle of a mental health epidemic. This epidemic has led to an increased awareness of just how much stress affects our lives. As Christians, we’re not assured of a life free of strife or worries. Nor, are we assured of smooth paths and calm waters. But God does assure us if we will keep our minds securely focused on Him and His Word, we can know perfect peace even amid the most stressful seasons in our lives.
The prophet Isaiah, in a song of praise to the Lord, said “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, whose thoughts are fixed on You!” This is a priceless and timeless promise for believers. This verse promises that God will provide His perfect peace when we trust Him, obey Him and faithfully follow and stay focused on Him. God’s perfect peace passes all understanding! It exceeds all the human wisdom, knowledge, and understanding found in the writings of today’s self-help experts and doctors. Friends. If you will follow the advice of Isaiah, you too can experience perfect peace from God in this stressful world. So, simply ask the Holy Spirit to renew your mind whenever you need help centering your focus on God. The Holy Spirit will direct your attention to a past sign of God’s work in your life, or the Spirit might just quiet your mind. In this second week of Advent, we are reminded that our peace is found in Jesus, our Prince of Peace. So, trust in the Lord, keep your eyes focused on Jesus, and let His perfect peace flow into your heart, into your mind, and into your soul!
The Peace of the Lord be with you!
