Divine Restoration
Is there something that needs rebuilding or restoration in your life today? It seems God is continually rebuilding or restoring something or someone, be it a broken heart, a struggling ministry, or even a nation. Our verse today reveals the restoration work God is always doing in us, around us, or through us. We find throughout scripture that God chose to do His work through ordinary people like us. He used Amos, a shepherd and farmer, to warn His people of the coming judgment if they continued to stray. We, too, are wise to remember and heed God's warnings.
The people of Amos's day had lost sight of God's love and goodness. They had become arrogant, comfortable, and complacent. Does that sound familiar? Staying from God is easy, yet it always comes with the same stern warnings Amos gave in his day. We must remember there are always consequences for all things done and left undone. This Old Testament passage provides hope, illustrating God's restoration to His repentant, faithful people. Friends, our loving God is in the renewal and restoration business! In His goodness, He conforms us more and more to the likeness of His Son daily. So, let us rejoice and give thanks for His mercy and grace in our lives as we seek divine restoration for our nation.
Onward and Upward+
