The word became flesh

The Word Became Flesh
John's Gospel reveals the true meaning of Christmas. Unlike the other Gospels, which mention angels, shepherds, wise men, and the star, John focuses on the Incarnation. It is the story of the infinite becoming finite and the invisible becoming visible. John states, “The Word became flesh.” This means that the Word of God didn't merely appear to be human; He genuinely became one of us and lived here among us. Theologians have tried to explain the mystery of the Incarnation for centuries, but their best efforts can take us only so far.
Friends, we will never fully grasp the Incarnation in this life. Why would our Creator humble Himself by coming to Earth as a vulnerable baby in a stable? In simple terms, "the Word became flesh" out of His love for you and I, so that we might come to know Him. "The Word became flesh" and lived among us so that we could glimpse a vision of God that we could understand. God in His immeasurable love for us, stepped out of heaven so that one day we might step into heaven for all eternity. This is the astonishing Good News of God’s love and the Incarnation. So, don’t overthink it; embrace it, give thanks, and rejoice that "the Word became flesh" for our redemption.
Merry Christmas
Fr. Greg
