Increase Our Faith!
Have you ever wished for a little more faith? If so, you're not alone. In today’s passage, Jesus’ apostles struggle and ask for more faith. I find it comforting to know that they, like us, sometimes struggle with believing and trusting. Keep in mind that the apostles had left their homes and surrendered everything to follow Jesus. They listened to His teachings, which became increasingly difficult. It’s no wonder they responded with a plea, “Lord, increase our faith!” Their honest request should bring comfort to anyone who has ever wished for the same.
Friends, there are times we all need a little more faith. Sometimes we need to be reminded that God's in control. But that raises the question: How much faith is enough? When the apostles said, “Lord, increase our faith,” Jesus told them that if they had faith the size of a mustard seed, they had more than enough. He meant that if you have any faith at all, it is sufficient. In other words, if we have enough faith to ask for more, we already possess what we need. It’s not about the amount of our faith, but in whom we place our faith. One of my favorite foxhole prayers is found in (Mark 9:24), “Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.” When in doubt, take your fears and tears to the Lord. He will never leave or forsake us!
