Fostering Feeble Faith!
Our faith can be very fickle from time to time! It's a struggle that most believers will wrestle with on this short journey to eternity. Have you occasionally struggled with doubts or unbelief? If so, you're not alone! It often occurs when God hasn't answered prayer as we expected. Living by faith is not expecting God to do what we want but learning to trust Him to do what He knows is best. Sometimes, we may feel like the man in our passage who struggled with Jesus' ability to heal his son. Most of us, at some point, will likely identify with the father in this passage, who says, "I do believe; help my unbelief" (Mark 9:24).
Friends, when moments of doubt and unbelief occur, thankfully, our loving God is gracious in our weakness. However, if we linger in doubt and unbelief, it can become a spiritual hindrance that can entrap us. Prayer is our medicine for unbelief! When belief and unbelief collide, we must turn to the one that our belief comes from, the author and perfector of our faith. We must seek our Savior! Prayer and conversation with Jesus are antidotes to unbelief. When doubt and unbelief occur, pray desperately and expectantly! Pray for deliverance from unbelief, even before praying for deliverance from your circumstances. "The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him" (Lam. 3:35).
